About Tim

Tim Dolan is a teacher and multi academy trust leader in England who has taught secondary maths for over 20 years across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. After a successful period as Head of Maths he then moved into maths leadership across a growing MAT, taking the opportunity to help improve the education of a larger number of pupils across the region. Having previously worked as teaching assistant in primary and secondary settings and several years as a primary school governor, Tim has a broad understanding of education.
Along the way Tim has picked up experience and responsibilities in other ares of leadership including wider curriculum and digital strategy. He draws on his expertise in educational technology and effective pedagogy to ensure technology enhances education without undermining how pupils and teachers learn best. Recent work includes exploration of how AI can be used to effectively enhance education, including it’s use in supporting assessment.
Tim has the privilege of working with a number of organisations and individuals across maths education and more widely. He has a long association advising and supporting the Loughborough University Maths PGCE course. After benefiting from a community of peers when a Head of Maths himself, he now has the joy of co-leading a subject leader community for Heads of Maths in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire through the East Midlands South Maths Hub.
Other activities involve:
- being the community supervisor for a PhD researcher, working to understand the factors that influence children’s financial literacy skills as part of the Collaboratory Research Hub.
- experience in supporting and advising maths departments in several parts of England.
- membership of the Shape the Future Leaders Coalition looking at AI use in education.
Tim is a Christian and aims to ‘do all to the glory of God’ (The Bible - 1 Corinthians 10:31)
